Configuring NeatClubs with AuthSMTP

Top  Previous  Next

As explained in the section on Outgoing Mail from the Web server, we strongly encourage people who will be sending high-volumes of e-mail to consider using a bulk mailer.

While there are many good bulk-mailers, and most should work, we have tested AuthSMTP.COM with the NeatClubs.COM service. (we currently require that the bulk mailer accept incoming mail on port 2525 owing to the configuration of our firewalls but we can change this is need be)

The instructions below explain the steps involved in obtaining an AuthSMTP account and integrating it with NeatClubs.COM

1.Visit AuthSMTP.COM and sign up for an account depending on the amount of mail that you anticipate sending.
2.You will receive a confirmation e-mail with instructions on how to login to the AuthSMTP control panel.
3.Log into the control panel, and add the e-mail address from which you will be sending mail. (mail must originate from a valid e-mail account that exists and that people can read for this service to work)
4.AuthSMTP will send a confirmation e-mail to the registered account, and ask you to confirm the account by clicking on a link that you are the owner of the account.
5.Next, under System Setup, Preferences, E-Mail, configure the NeatClubs.COM service as shown below.

Indicate here that you are using an external mailer as shown and insert to the authentication details provided by AuthSMTP as below. Connections on port 2525 are assumed.

Once you have made these changes, and saved the settings, you can select "System Setup" / "Preferences" / "Utilities" to "Test E-mail" originating from the server.

This will confirm that the server is able to originate mail like newsletters, e-mails to recover account information, registration confirmations, registration notifications, and other broadcasts to your customers by relaying e-mail through authsmtp.com.
