Single Registration Events |

This type of event description most likely is the closest to what most of us would think of as an event in the real-world. They are often referred to in the system as “single events” reflecting the fact that they tend to be “one-time” events. These are one-time events that a user may register for. It is assumed that users will create a membership record in the course of registering for these types of events. You may choose to expose these events to the general public or only to people who already have a username and password to the web-site. This event type is quite flexible in terms of how it is setup. The event definition may support recurrence in terms of dates (Examples of recurrence patters are “3 days in a row”, “every second Tuesday for three weeks” or “every month for a year”) but from a registration perspective, it will still be treated as a “one time” registration. Registration for these single events may or may not involve payment depending on how you configure the event properties. If there is data that you need to collect that is specific to this event type, you may optionally use the “Setup Data Collection Fields” to create your own supplementary forms to collect additional information. Because the single event type can be used in conjunction with other event properties, it is quite a flexible event type. Some examples of where you might use this event type are provided below: You are hosting a competition at your facility and wish to accept registration and payment from attendees, gather event specific information from each registrant, and also ensure that all registrants are captured in your data base for further mailings. You are hosting a luncheon for your association and are asking attendees to provide an optional contribution and you want to ensure that only current members of your organization with valid login IDs are able to attend. You are hosting a Christmas party for your membership and want to gather a count of the number of attendees and provide respondents to opportunity to contribute to offset the cost of the party. This is one of the most flexible events types and like the simple anonymous event type it can be used for multiple purposes. The principal difference is that the single event type requires a member profile (a login account) to exist on the web-site. |
