Setting up Member Types |

You can define member types for your membership database by selecting the “Member Types” option under “System Setup” / “Categories & Definitions” as shown below. This is something that is normally setup once when the site is initially configured and should not be changed after that. While it is OK to add more membership categories over time, you should refrain from replacing an existing category with another unless you are sure there are no members in your existing database that fall into the category about to be removed.
Once you select the “Member Types” menu option, you will see the screen below. This form allows you to define member categories appropriate for your club or organization. Note the two member types “PUBLIC” and “Member” are required by the system and cannot be changed. You may enter a short name for the member type as well as a longer explanatory name that will be used in some reports. You may store up to twenty different membership types or categories.
For AGD affiliates, reasonable member types in our experience are as below. Obviously member categories will vary depending on your unique requirements. PUBLIC Member of the General Public Member Member of the Association AC Active - regular full dues paying member AF Affiliate - vendor category AS Associate - regular full dues paying member EM Emeritus member RE Retired Member ST Student Member New Dentist Those out of dental school ten years or less Resident Resident Contributor Contributor
