Setting your Home Page

There are two special documents in the document library that are displayed by default when someone visits your site.

The Default home page that regular site visitors will see is a document called:

Public Home Page

Depending on your site configuration, you may also have a separate home page that is visible only to people who are logged into your site. This optional page is called the:

Member Home Page

You can control the behaviour of your home page by configuring the Home Page section of the Website Layout & Preferences:

Select “System Setup / Preferences / Home Page

Using the settings above you can change the document in your document library that is used as the public and members only home pages. If you are planning to edit your public home page you might consider copying your home page document to a document called "Home Page version 2" and then editing the copy before changing the settings above to point to the new home page version. This technique makes it easy to change home pages or have seasonal themes for your home pages.

Note that at present there is no way to have different types of members see different home pages although we are considering this as a future enhancement. Currently anyone logged in will see the member home page and anyone not logged in will see the public home page.

The home page setup also allows you to create animated slide shows that appear on the home page drawing from images in your photo gallery. You can learn more about home page slide shows here.  Slide shows may be configured to display alone (replacing the home page) or they may be configured to display along with the selected home page. Slide shows if configured, will be visible to both logged in members and non-members (public visitors).
