These settings govern the content that appears on the website home page.

Content can vary depending on whether a user of the website is logged in. Use the Document Display Preferences to select a document in the document library that will act as a home page depending on whether the user is logged in.

Additional "per member type" home page configurability is available as well. Each configured member type can have their own default home page that appears once they login configurable under the Categories & Definitions setup.

To configure a home page slide show, the first step is to ensure that slide shows are enabled under Optional Slide show Settings shown below.

The photo group for a slide show refers to a set of images that you have uploaded to the site that share the same user defined photo category name.

Ensure that "Use Slideshow" is set to "Yes" to use slide shows

For best results, all the slides in your slideshow should always be the same size in terms of pixels. Otherwise some images will appear to be distorted when played in a slideshow.  To ensure the best possible image quality, NeatClubs.COM allows you to set both the height and width of the graphic elements in your slideshow.  A reasonable width is normally 500 pixels wide.  If, for example, your images are in landscape mode with a 4:3 aspect ratio, this means that the height would be 375 pixels.  The width and height can vary as shown below depending on your own preferences. Ideally the actual image size should precisely match the size you set here. Otherwise NeatClubs.COM will automatically adjust the size of the image to match what you enter here resulting in distortion of the image.

The display mode determines whether only the slide show appears or whether both the slideshow and the regular web-site home page content appears (based on the settings above)

The "Slideshow before text" setting governs whether the slideshow appears first on the home page or whether regular web-page text appears first.

Slide transition effects are supported on Internet Explorer but may be ignored in other browsers depending on their capabilities.

The Home Page Slideshow Duration specifies the number of seconds to spend on each slide before switching to the next slide.

Home page "sliding banners" can be used as an alternative to slide shows.  These have a more sophisticated appearance characteristic of "Web 2.0" websites. The sliding banner is based on a web technology called JQuery that relies on a library download from Google, so using this element will slow down the initial load of your web-site slightly. While it is technically possibly to have both slide shows and home page banner sliders active at the same time, this will probably look too "busy" for most sites.

An example of a home page banner slider is pictured below. (this is the banner that appears at the time of this writing on the NeatWorx.COM web-site)  Good content for a sliding element of this type are "key marketing messages" that you want a web site visitor to walk away with.

The home page banner, exactly like the slide show, is composed of a series of photo images in a user-defined picture collection. In this case as shown below, we have sized our pictures to be 800 x 200 pixels.

By default the "slider" element will be placed immediately below the top menu (if active)
Slider elements can be made up either of photo library elements or document library elements. It is useful to allow document library elements if you want to embed HTML to make elements "clickable" as they scroll by.
The slider image delay is the number of milliseconds that will be spend on each image (excluding image load time)
The transition time governs how quickly the display will sequence between images
Navigation refers to the clickable numeric tabs shown below the individual slider elements. If navigation is enabled these elements will appear
The background colors of the tabs are configurable as shown below.

Some sites will want to have a flash banner or other page that appears only once when someone first visits the site. NeatClubs.COM uses sessions which rely in turn on cookies being enabled in the visitors browser to keep track of whether someone has visited the site before and to maintain context while navigating through pages.

By answering "Yes" to "Show intro doc before web-site", you are indicating that you want to document to appear on its own outside of the context of the web site. By answering "No" the document will appear embedded in the context of the site as a "one time" home page.

The referenced document may contained embedded Flash, Video or other types of content.

Regardless of whether any animated content is done playing, the web page will be re-directed automatically to the regular home page after the number of seconds specified in the setup below.

For clubs using NeatClubs.COM for recreational class registration, some may wish to "feature" their current session so that it appears as shown below at the top of the home page. (The appearance will depend of course on your own site setup and choice of fonts and color schemes)

Valid session names are drawn from the category definitions under System Setup whereas valid years are based on the active registration events that actually exist in the database.

clip0614

Although not setup in the example below, you can select the year and session based on any "event_class" style registrations that you have created in the registration event setup. Once saved, if "Feature Class Registration on Home Page" is enabled, the session schedule will be featured to all who visit the site.
