Editing and Copying Newsletters

Quite often, organizations will want to base their next newsletter on a previous newsletter. The document library makes it easy to copy an existing newsletter and replicate all of the content into a new newsletter with a different name.

By copying the May 28th 2008 Newsletter that we created in our previous example, I can have that newsletter serve as a template for my August 2008, 2008 Newsletter. Note that when we copy a Newsletter all of the newsletter properties are copied along with it. The figure below shows the screen that appears when we copy a Newsletter. We can simply replace the default document name that says “Copy of Newsletter May 28, 2008” with our new name “August 28, 2008” as shown.

Once we've copied the Newsletter, the new Newsletter appears in the document listing.

We can then edit the Newsletter by clicking on the pencil icon to the left and start editing our new newsletter based on the previous newsletter contents.
