The e-mail setup provides the opportunity to configure how the site sends e-mail.
A brief explanation of each setup parameter is provided below: SMTP From Name: This is the "friendly name" that will appear in the "from" field when a user receives e-mail messages that originate from your web-site. These generally include registration acknowledgements, e-mails directed to groups of registrants or newsletters. SMTP From Address: This is the SMTP format address that messages will be represented to be from. This should be a valid e-mail address on your site that users can send e-mail to in order to request information. You should always use a valid e-mail address able to receive e-mail to be compliant with sending requirements for bulk-mailers. SMTP Reply to Name: Most mail clients allow a distinct reply to e-mail address to be specified. This is the friendly descriptive name that a user will see in their e-mail client when they reply to the message, It is normally the same as the SMTP From Name. SMTP Reply to E-Mail Address: As above, this is the actual e-mail address that replies will be directed to - usually the same as the SMTP From Address. SMTP Bounce E-Mail Address: This is a NeatWorx specific feature. This specified what is referred to as the SMTP envelope "Return-Path" variable. This is not normally visible to an e-mail client, but receiving mail systems pay special attention to this value. By default this value will be the UNIX / Linux level username and the actual hostname that initiated e-mail. Because NeatWorx hosts several customers per physical server, we make allowances so that the bounce e-mail address can be over-ridden to direct back to a specific customer e-mail address. The e-mail address specified here should be hosted on the same server that initiates the e-mail (to reduce the chances of SPAM filters rejecting the e-mail). Configuring bounce e-mail addresses is important because if a recipient e-mail address is invalid for any reason, this is the only way that the receiving mail system has to notify the sender of a problem with the recipient. SMTP Enable Smart Bounce Handling: This feature only applies when the SMTP Bounce E-Mail Address is hosted as a physical mailbox on the server initiating e-mail. If a large newsletter is sent to thousands of users, it is likely that many of the recipients will be invalid and e-mails will bounce. (owing to spelling mistakes, discontinued e-mail addresses etc.) By enabling smart bounce handling, the "allow_email" property in the member / account holder database will automatically be turned off in the event that an e-mail rejects for a valid reason. The site administrator will be send an automated e-mail via a batch process within 24 hours of a batch send identifying the e-mail address that resulted in rejects and informing that future sending has been disabled. After inspecting the e-mails and the reason for reject, site administrators can correct the e-mail address in the member / account holder database and manually re-enable the "allow_email" property. Graphic header outbound for Mail and Newsletters - This parameter selects a default header graphic to appear at the top of all e-mail messages originating from the site. Valid selections will be graphic images uploaded and assigned a system category of "Email Header Graphic". Include header and footer in text of outbound e-mail messages - Headers and footers are defined in "magically" named files. a) Email Header Text b) Email Footer Text You may either change the contents of these documents to reflect your preference or disable this option to prevent header and footer text from being sent.
