Display a Flash Element before visiting he Website

Top  Previous  Next

Many web-sites have impressive animated flash elements that have been developed to showcase their organizations to outside visitors.  Since not all users like flash (it can be tedious to watch the same flash element over and over again) these flash components are usually accompanied by a "Skip Intro" option that allows you to by-pass the graphic display.

NeatClubs.COM allows you to incorporate these flash elements into your web-site in a variety of ways without the need for special programming.

Options are:

No initial page with Flash Element (the default)
Display a page with a flash element before visiting the site itself
Embed the initial flash display page inside the web-site

In all cases above, NeatClubs.COM will display the optional flash element only once per web-site visit (we refer to a website vision as a "session"). If you login to the web-site and logout again, NeatClubs.COM interprets the logout activity as the end of your session, so in this case the next visit to the site will result in the initial flash element appearing.

The steps involved in setting up an initial flash element are:

1.Create a document in your document library. Call the document something like "Initial Flash Display".  The document serves as the container for your flash element.  By putting flash elements in documents you will have the ability to center the element or annotate the initial flash page with additional text or addition links.
2.Edit the newly created document and upload the flash element (an SWF file) into your page. Next save the page and preview it to make sure that the flash element is working.
3.Set the Home Page Setup in the Website Layout & Preferences to your liking.  Ensure that the "show an introductory document" is enabled and that you select the correct file name from the document library.
