Known Issues

Some known problems and limitations of NeatClubs.COM are listed below. Categories include:

We are working to resolve all of these issues as quickly as we can!

 

Browsers Issues

We are intending to support all popular browsers with NeatClubs.COM.  Due to technical differences between browsers however, not all work identically. Specific known issues related to browsers are listed below. For best results, we recommend that NeatClubs administrators use FireFox.

FireFox 2.x, 3.x

(preferred)

Recommended on WindowsXP, Windows Vista or MAC OS

NeatClubs.COM works well with both of these browsers. (FireFox three introduced subtle changes in CSS margins that will result in shadows around side panel elements if enabled looking slightly different between browsers.

FireFox works well will NeatClubs because FireFox does progressive rendering of tables. This means that the system will appear to perform better and be more responsive when using the FireFox browser.

Internet Explorer 7 & IE 8 (Beta)

There is a well known issue with Internet Explorer, where sites can fail with an "Operation Aborted" message. (Googling "operation aborted body ie" will turn up multiple references of this problem with various web applications.

The issues are complex, but show up only on some systems (this is because the IE issue is related often to javascript executing in the BODY section of a web page while the web-page itself may not have fully loaded. We've noticed that the problem seems more frequent on older systems.

NeatWorx has introduced a workaround to the IE specific feature. We can defer the execution of javascript elements until we are sure that the page has fully loaded, however sites where we enable this feature may appear to render more slowly, and the menus and other dynamic may appear to flash as users navigate from page to page.

The work-around can be enabled in the NeatClubs.COM setup options (see "Defer Javascript Execution")

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8 introduced two modes of operation. Please note that NeatClubs.COM at this time requires "Quirks" mode where the browser emulates bugs in previous browser versions.  We hope to remove these issues over time, but for compatability the NeatClubsCOM application will force an IE 8 web-site visitor into IE 7 emulation mode.

Internet Explorer 5 & 6

The same problems related to operation aborted may manifest itself in IE 5 and 6 browsers. If possible we recommend that IE users upgrade to the latest IE release.

IE 5 and 6 browsers may render more slowly than more recent versions of Internet Explorer

Safari

(currently working on issues - plan to support)

 

While Safari can be used to access a NeatClubs managed web-site, there are some specific known issues with Safari.

There are known issues with our editor component and Safari. While the editor component works, the WYSIWYG editing will be disabled for Safari users. We are seeking to address this issue with the vendor of the editor component.

Google Chrome Browser

(plan to support)

We are only beginning to evaluate the Chrome browser. We will provides updates to this page if we become aware of issues

Opera and other Browsers

(no plans to support)

At this time we are testing our software only informally against Opera. We will make a best effort to resolve any issues as they are identified as long as we determine them to be bugs in our own software and not more complex compatibility issues.

There are currently a number of problems with the Opera Browser and the license component that we license from SoftComplex (although to be fair, this may have to do with our implementation)

 

Performance Issues

Some schedules take an excessively long time to display in the browser window.  Up to one second of server compute time for sites with dense program schedules.  This means that as sites become busy, displaying large schedules can become very slow. We are currently working on resolving this.

Other Known Problems

•Applying colors changes and font changes results in the need to re-create a style sheet for the site. One some browsers, it will be necessary to hold down the shift key while clicking on refresh or clicking the F5 function key (invokes refresh function in IE) to force the new style sheet to be applied to the site
•For some setup related changes, the changes may not appear until the administrator logs out and logs in again although such settings should be visible to new site visitors immediately. This is because NeatClubs.COM uses Sessions to propagate state from page to page.  Logging out of the site destroys the active session forcing NeatClubs to re-check its database, so changes are guaranteed to become apparent after logging out.

Registration Related Problems

•There are known timing related issues that can cause classes to become over-subscribed if multiple users are contending for the same class at the same time.  This is unlikely but is possible. We are working to solve this.
•Returning to a previous screen in the context of a registration can cause the session to "forget" the values in specific types of custom form fields. We are currently working to resolve this as well.
